EU: Social media (graphic designer) for communications unit

This is to inform you that the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament is looking for a full-time social media officer (fixed-term contractual agent position for at least two years renewable, function group III).

The Communication Strategy Unit of the Greens/EFA group seeks an enthusiastic Graphic Designer with experience with social media join the team.

We are looking for an excellent communicator, able to work on a variety of topics in a fast pacing environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent visual, analytical and organisational skills and ability to develop messages and visuals for different audiences. The person will be able to adapt content specifically for each social network and different audiences in various countries.

The new colleague will be responsible for creating visual and multimedia content through graphic design and photo-editing software, implement, and further develop the Greens/EFA Group visual identity.

Tasks to be performed:

  • Production of all graphic content, from idea implementation to publication
  • Implement and develop the Group’s visual identity on social media through the design of targeted visual content according to the audience
  • Advising creative projects of Greens/EFA campaigns
  • Creation of infographics and visualization of complex issues
  • Developing messaging for our social media communication
  • Following trends in the social media area and identify opportunities for new projects
  • Supporting the wider communications team and Group on creative outputs

Qualifications, experience and desired skills requested:

  • Work experience of 3 years or more;
  • Advanced skills in graphic design, photo-editing software. Advanced knowledge of Photoshop Illustrator and a good Knowledge of the Adobe suite
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience in messaging and storytelling in the digital sphere
  • Excellent written, verbal, and technical skills
  • Ability to think about the bigger picture while communicating to both large and dedicated audiences
  • Active social media user and keen experimenter of digital communication channels, analytics and strategies
  • Political understanding of EU politics
  • Fast and precise working style and a high degree of flexibility
  • Familiarity with the Green/EFA Group’s values, positions and public presentation;
  • Excellent analysis skills and a proven record of strategic planning and creative-development, including the design and implementation of multiple projects at once;
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to be self-motivated and a stress-resistant team player
  • Proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple requests and projects at the same time
  • Open-mindedness, communicative attitude and experience in working in a multi-cultural team;
  • Ability to problem-solve, with an emphasis on creativity and brainstorming new ideas;
  • Being a team-player and ready to work flexible hours, including work-related travel.


  • Educational background in line with the function
  • Additional education or trainings in the field
  • Experience in digital communication within international organisations (including creative agencies, governmental or non-governmental organisations, or other.)
  • Experience in brand awareness building or online audience building for organisations
  • Skills in video-editing software
  • Knowledge of other official languages of the European Union
  • Knowledge of the European institutions, EU legislation and decision-making process

Under article 82, (23) of the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants (CEOS) of the European Communities, candidates must:

  • Be citizen of an EU Member State unless an exception is authorised by the authority referred to in article 6 (1);
  • Enjoy full rights as citizen;
  • Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the laws concerning military service;
  • Meet the character requirements for the duties involved.
