Vår politik på engelska
Here we have gathered a summary of our policies for those who do not yet speak Swedish.
Are you a Swedish citizen?
Then you have the right to vote in municipal (kommun), regional, and national parliamentary elections.
Are you a citizen of an EU country?
Then you have the right to vote in municipal and regional elections.
Are you a citizen of a country outside the EU and have lived in Sweden for more than 3 years?
Then you have the right to vote in municipal and regional elections.
Both the municipality and the region are important. The municipality makes decisions on issues such as schools, social care, housing development, and other matters that affect your daily life. The region is responsible for areas such as public transportation and healthcare.
The Green Party’s Policy in Botkyrka
The Green Party in Botkyrka wants to take responsibility and, compared with the current administration, drive change that people can notice in their everyday lives. A strong Botkyrka is built by embracing the diversity and multiculturalism that already exist here.
Social Issues
A safe Botkyrka is built through community, equal opportunities, and early intervention. The municipality should work closely with schools, social services, the police, and civil society organizations to prevent crime, violence, and social exclusion.
Schools are the municipality’s most important investment in the future. Every student should have the opportunity to succeed regardless of their background. We want to invest more in education through smaller class sizes, more teachers, and stronger student health and support services. Preschool education should be strengthened, and more children should have the opportunity to participate.
We want to create new green jobs and strengthen local self-sufficiency. More pathways to employment are needed through internships, education, entrepreneurship, and better cooperation between the municipality, businesses, and community organizations.
Libraries, youth centers, and cultural centers should serve as open meeting places throughout the municipality. All children and young people should have the opportunity to participate in cultural activities, sports, and community organizations regardless of their family’s financial situation.

Green Questions
Botkyrka should be developed sustainably. New housing should primarily be built near public transportation while preserving farmland and valuable natural areas. We want more affordable housing. We want to make it easier to choose cycling, public transportation, and shared mobility solutions. Rural areas should have good accessibility through improved public transportation and park-and-ride facilities.
The climate crisis requires action. Botkyrka should once again become a leading environmental municipality through reduced emissions, stronger biodiversity, and climate adaptation measures. Municipal investments should be guided by a binding carbon budget. Botkyrka must be prepared for heatwaves and flooding.
We want Botkyrka’s natural environment to be accessible, interconnected, and rich in biodiversity.
